Skid Robot is calling on Angels. Homeless Christmas Trees #Santacause is an ongoing collaborative arts project helmed by Skid Robot to help make the upcoming Holidays less cold and dark and more festive for the Los Angeles homeless community. I felt the urge to do something for the Holidays and after a night in which I dreamt about graffitied Christmas Trees for Homeless I reached out to anonymous artist and activist Skid Robot. Many people had been telling us we needed to collaborate. We collected a group of friend artists and activated our city to call on angels and share the joy of the Holidays with less fortunate people in our community. Skid “planted” dozens of Christmas Trees around various homeless communities to spread awareness, the weeks prior to the Holidays.
The goal was to call attention to our homeless and to create a dialogue for extreme poverty by providing art and activating people to donate Holiday Gift Bags to help those in need.
Generous Angels were called to action, through a 10-day digital fundraiser, to gift essential items that Santa Cause can deliver to the homeless on Christmas Eve. Donation gifts such as much-needed necessities like toothbrushes, socks, soap, and pet food were placed in the Holiday Gift Bags under Skid’s painted Homeless Christmas Trees. Topping it off on Christmas Eve, with the largest Chriffitied Christmas Tree, painted and decorated in Venice Beach, under which the homeless community was invited to get their essential gift bags and sing along with the dj and live performers. The team of artist plans to continue to grow #SantaCause over the years. If you would like to get involved please reach out. The more, the merrier the Christmas.
